Winter in Canberra is cold, with daily temperatures of 1 to 12 degrees Celcius (34 to 54 degrees Fahrenheit), often dropping below freezing at night. Days are often clear, sunny and pleasant between 11am and 2pm. Layered clothing is recommended.

Supermarkets generally have extended trading hours, but these vary across Canberra. Woolworths stores are usually open from 7am to 9pm. Coles stores are usually open from 7am to 10pm. Aldi stores are usually open from 8.30am to 8pm.
Most banks are open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm.

The Registration Desk will be open one hour before the program starts on Wednesday 8 July 2026, and half an hour prior on Thursday 9 July and Friday 10 July.
ESA (ACT) is still finalizing that. The Welcome Drinks and PhD Poster Session will be held on Tuesday 7 July in the Canberra central business district.
The program will be updated in the app. There will also be a noticeboard showing any last minute changes at the Registration Desk.
Monday to Friday
Trading hours are generally Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm. Small suburban stores outside of large shopping malls also trade from 9am to 5pm on Friday. Most stores in large shopping malls including those in the city centre and in Belconnen trade from 9am to 9pm on Friday.
Weekends
Practices vary on the weekends.
Most stores in large shopping malls trade on Saturday from 9am to 5pm and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Most smaller centres, such as Kingston and Manuka, are open on Saturday but not Sunday. There are exceptions, such as Gold Creek, that are open on Sunday.
The Conference Dinner will be held at the Arboretum. This is not easy to get to and from via public transport so ESA (ACT) will provide bus pickup from and drop-off to the hotels listed under Accommodation. Further details will be provided closer to the event. Attendees staying at different hotels are welcome to use the bus service from points to be announced in Belconnen and in the Canberra central business district.
Full registration includes the Welcome Drinks and PhD Poster Session, mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks and hot drinks, and lunch. It does not include the Conference Dinner at the Arboretum, which is charged for separately. Tickets can be purchased during the registration process.
Single day registration includes mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks and hot drinks and lunch on the day of attendance only. It does not include the Welcome Drinks and PhD Poster Session or the Conference Dinner at the Arboretum. Day attendees can purchase tickets to these separately during the registration process.
When you book your accommodation, your credit card details will be transferred to the hotel you have selected. Please confirm this on check in with your hotel. Your credit card will not be charged until you check out.

Nor do we accept liability for any equipment or software brought to the conference by attendees, speakers, sponsors or any other party. Please protect your personal property. Do not wear a conference name badge once you have left University of Canberra premises. Advise Conference Solutions staff if concerned.

An official photographer will be present at the conference. Photographs taken may be used for promotional purposes.

Business wear and smart casual are both acceptable.
Conference Dinner at the Arboretum
Cocktail dress and black tie are both acceptable.
You should complete the special dietary requirements component of the registration form. This information will be passed onto the caterers for the event.
IMPORTANT – If you have any life-threatening allergies, please note these separately so both the caterers and the servers can be made aware.
Attendees are permitted to take photographs for personal or social media use during sessions, provided they do not disrupt the proceedings and the presenter has not indicated otherwise.
Presenters have the option to display a “No Photography” icon on their slides or posters to indicate their preference. If no such indication is present, photography is generally permitted.
When sharing images or content from the conference on social media, please credit the presenter and use the official conference hashtag
Do not share images of individuals under 18 years of age without explicit permission from a parent or guardian.
Be mindful of others’ preferences regarding photography and recording. Always ask for consent before capturing images or recordings of fellow attendees.
Avoid using flash photography during sessions to prevent distractions.
Audio and video recording of sessions by attendees is prohibited unless prior written consent is obtained from the presenter.
